Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Greswell website – our shop window! I hope you find it informative with its many useful links to performance tables, our 2011 OFSTED report and email facility.

Our recent OFSTED has found us to be a good school with some outstanding features and the potential to improve still further.  Out SATs results at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 are for the second consecutive year ,  well above Local Authority and National average.

This year’s Key Stage 2 scores are:

·         Literacy              90% Level 4plus                               37% level 5

·         Numeracy           92% level 4plus                               50% level 5

We teach our Curriculum in creative ways that engage and inspire  ALL children. There are opportunities to play musical instruments, swim and we believe trips should form part of their learning at least three times a year.

Years 3 and 4 have just enjoyed camping out overnight in the school grounds as part of their work on Explorers, Year 2 worked on Wild Birds, making fat balls and monitoring their numbers.

After School Clubs are many and varied. They include rapping classes, sport, Spanish, art, netball, drama and choir. We also offer Homework Club for children who are reluctant to complete homework at home.

We continue to excel at caring for your child in our Time and Space Resource Base. It is a unique provision, in which two full time staff work to reward and support learning and behaviour. They also provide pastoral care for children or parents who are going through difficult times. 

We understand that busy parents require an extended school provision . Our before and after school club, Kidzone, does just that!  Catering for children from 7.30am until 6.00pm it is run by own CRB checked staff. Our OFSTED registered Kidzone Holiday Club also takes care of your child during every school holiday, apart from Christmas.

Our Nursery is staffed by Greswell teaching staff where we not only offer  the Government minimum free place of 3 hours per day, but we also offer Wrap Around Care at a cost of £10.00 for a full day. The added bonus this year (2011 to 2012) is that we have re- structured nursery hours from 9 – 11.30 and 1 – 3.30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, then ALL children will be offered a full day free of charge on ‘Whacky Wednesdays’.

Nursery is available for children who are 3 by September, but for those parents whose child is just a little bit too young to attend then, we offer a January intake too.
